BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR'S RETREAT
Every year Caring Connections holds a free two day retreat for any Maine woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. This event, made possibly by generous support from the Borman Family Foundation held at the Bangor YMCA Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan on Branch Lake in Ellsworth, goes from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon.
Activities include crafts, workshops, swimming, kayaking, ropes challenges, massage, Reiki, Healing Touch, nature walks and more. Attendees are welcome to participate in as many activities as they wish or just relax on the porch, and watch the lake.
Women affected by breast cancer have found the retreat beneficial in many ways; it gives them the opportunity to bond with other breast cancer survivors, share fears and laughter and realize they are not alone. They can challenge themselves through activities that encourage creativity, fun, wellness, destressing and personal growth.
