Health Education Specialist
Leanne Bishop has a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Counselor education from the University of Maine. Leanne has worked as a school counselor until staying home with her children for a few years, and since 2015 has been working at Caring Connections. She is the Health Education Specialist and Healing Touch Certified Practitioner at Caring Connections. She provides cancer prevention education to schools and community groups/businesses and co-facilitates the breast cancer support group along with many other duties. Leanne also provides Healing Touch (energy therapy) at the Bangor Region YMCA and coordinates the local Healing Touch volunteer program through Caring Connections.
Katherine Perkins
Patient Navigator & Community Outreach Worker
Katherine Perkins joined the team in 2019 through a capacity building grant from the Maine Cancer Foundation. Katherine has a Bachelor of Arts degree and prior to joining the Caring Connections team, Katherine has worked in many community service programs, including: Director of Sweetser for disability services, NAMI Maine Respite Manager, as well as a Residential Service Coordinator at Partners for Peace. We are very lucky to have her join us! Through Caring Connections, Katherine provides advocacy and patient navigation for those receiving diagnostic and treatment services, assists with facilitation of all support groups, provides risk reduction education within community and school settings, and helps to manage the no-cost breast and cervical screening program.
