The event is named for the late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University women’s basketball head coach, a past president and founding member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), and a galvanizing voice for the WBCA. Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. For more information about Kay Yow, click here. The Play 4 Kay game represents the goal of a nation of women’s basketball coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
